LIFE AND FREEDOM

Hi! This is one of the first poems i wrote when I came back from holiday! I love this one a lot. It's quite personal to me, and it took a few days to write - hope you enjoy it!

LIFE AND FREEDOM

the deep silences of my soul

filled with pale blue starlight

making me feel whole again

whole yet

empty

empty and ready

to be the person i was always meant to be

the miracle of healing

watching gaps in our suit of armour

heal over, sometimes a raised scar left

behind

i feel this within me,

textured scabs criss-crossing over my heart,

rough scar tissue soothing my trauma,

closing her eyes-

letting her go

my mind was a prison

forever restraining, forever

restricting

my heart, my soul, my -

me.

but i watch in awe as

the bars open, the prison breaks, the walls

come down

down

down

i am free,

like the moment

the moment of golden sunshine on your

face

tangible, yet not quite,

there, but never reachable, touchable,

feelable,

yet still, free at last

i am free

yellow noise of sunflowers filling my ears,

sincere hopes, real love, honest looks,

not quite passing me by anymore,

so painfully here with me now.

i am free

salt from the ocean settling on the

cracks of my inhalation

honesty and love typifying my

exhalation

e x h a l e

and then i can let it go

and live as one must in this world

live

and live truly.
