Hello my friends! This poem is a bit different. I am quite close to a lot of people who work in the NHS and I have seen what they suffer through everyday. From unrealistic expectations to just frankly really mean people, I find it honestly ridiculous. They signed up to help people, not deal with this kind of behaviour. I wrote a poem trying to express this - I've sent this to the BBC too!
Hope you enjoy and have a wonderful day <3
healthcare workers are people NOT machines,
they have a favourite colour, best friend
they have a hated food, pet peeve
healthcare workers are real.
they sneeze and laugh at the wrong times,
they tear up when you shout.
they get lonely and tired.
healthcare workers are not machines.
we work them to the bone, without a
whisper of a thanks.
we take them for granted, as
they make our tomorrow a better place.
healthcare workers are people NOT machines.
stop treating them like this. say thank you,
and please; give them a smile
and be grateful.
be the reason someone feels worthy today,
and taste your words before you say them.
healthcare workers are people like you and me.
start acting like it. they're tired of this
pandemic, just like you,
so start seeing the people in front of you,
instead of another means to an end.
