scraps of paper

my unfinished lines of poetry

carry into the unending lines

of my body

some of my milk teeth haven’t fallen out;

parts of my childhood

will never leave me

i suppose.

what have i left behind?

which teeth have i

left under my pillow, never

to be found again?

the curves and promises of my hips and legs

hold

my youth.
